Influence of soft rock-fill material as dam embankment with central bituminous concrete membrane

摘要: This paper demonstrates the difficulties in determining the relevant material parameters for a valuation of the deformation behavior of the up- and downstream dam shell by means of an embankment dam of medium height. Laboratory as well as field tests on solid rock-fill material were performed before the beginning of construction. During the construction the properties of the available rock-fill changed from solid to soft materials. This gave rise to the necessity of adjusting the dam design of the downstream dam shoulder. Several times higher dam settlements as well as significant differential settlements between the up- and downstream dam shell were observed during construction and operation. Apart from this situation, the dam has been operated for nearly 20 years and the behavior of the water barrier has been very good.

Analysis on damage causes of built-in corridor in core rock-fill dam on thick overburden: A case study

摘要: The stress state of the built-in corridor in core rock-fill dam on thick overburden is extremely complex, which may produce cracking and damage. The purpose of this paper was to investigate the effect of thick overburden on the stress and deformation of the built-in corridor in a rock-fill dam, and ascertain the damage causes of the corridor. The rationality of the analysis method for corridor with similar structure is another focus. The approach is based on finite-element method and the calculation result accuracy is verified by the field monitoring data. The improved analysis method for corridors with similar structure is proposed by comparing various corridor load calculation methods and concrete constitutive models. Results demonstrate that the damage causes of the corridor are the deformability difference between the overburden and concrete and the special structural form. And the calculation model considering dam construction process, contact between concrete and surrounding soil, and concrete damage plasticity can reasonably reflect the mechanical behavior of the corridor. The research conclusions may have a reference significance for the analysis of tunnels similar to built-in corridors.

高心墙堆石坝坝面碾压施工仿真理论与应用

摘要:

在对高心墙堆石坝坝面碾压系统进行全面分析的基础上,提出了以填筑单元为仿真单位的碾压施工仿真理论,建立了能够反映碾压过程中不确定因素的精细化仿真模型,保证仿真贴近实际施工。研究成果在糯扎渡心墙堆石坝工程的填筑单元中得到了应用,验证了方法的可靠性,对于大坝现场碾压施工具有指导意义,为工程进度控制和管理提供了技术支持。

高心墙堆石坝填筑施工过程实时监控系统研发与应用

摘要:

文章针对高心墙堆石坝填筑施工特点,建立了过程控制指标体系,确定了过程监控方法,提出了解决方案,研制开发了具有实时性、高精度、自动化、全天候等特点的大坝填筑施工过程监控系统,实现土石料上坝运输过程、坝面填筑碾压过程的实时监控。该系统应用于亚洲第一高土石坝——糯扎渡心墙堆石坝的施工现场,建立了以监控系统为核心的施工过程控制体系,对大坝填筑施工的主要环节实现精细化的全天候实时监控,有效地控制了大坝填筑施工参数,提高了施工过程的质量控制水平与效率。

Mechanical properties of rock materials with related to mineralogical characteristics and grain size

摘要: Mechanical properties of rock materials are related to textural characteristics. The relationships between mechanical properties and textural characteristics have been extensively investigated for differently types of rocks through experimental tests. Based on the experimental test data, single- and multiple- variant regression analyses are conducted among mechanical properties and textural characteristics. Textural characteristics of rock materials are influenced by the following factors: mineral composition, size, shape, and spatial distribution of mineral grains, porosity, and inherent microcracks. This study focuses on the first two: mineral composition and grain size. ? This study comprehensively summarizes the regression equations between mechanical properties and mineral content and the regression equations between mechanical properties and grain size. Further research directions are suggested at the end of this study.

土石方动态调配模型与可视化研究

摘要:

土石方调配是土石坝或堆石坝施工中的一个核心问题,其合理与否对降低工程造价和保证工程的顺 利进行具有重要的经济、技术价值。根据其受时间-空间影响与约束的特点,文章在总结现有研究成果的基础 上,采用系统分析的手段,提出了一种将动态问题静态化的方法,并利用线性规划大M单纯形法对问题进行求 解。在数学模型上,深入而细致地考虑了实际施工中的一些人为约束因素,增强了模型的通用性与灵活性;借 助于GIS技术的强大空间信息处理功能,将土石方调配成果以三维动画的形式显示出来,以达到形象直观的目 的;在程序实现上,采用强大的程序设计语言工具VC++开发出了界面友好、操作简单、适用性强的软件。最 后,以其在某大型土石坝工程土石方调配项目中的成功应用,验证了此项研究工作的合理性与优越性。

重大水利水电工程施工实时控制关键技术及其工程应用

摘要:

高心墙堆石坝和高混凝土坝的施工质量与施工进度控制是工程建设的重要技术问题。针对常规人工控制手段难以确保高心墙堆石坝施工质量,以及高强度连续施工下高混凝土坝施工进度难以实时控制等问题,提出了高心墙堆石坝填筑碾压质量实时监控技术、坝料上坝运输过程实时监控技术和施工质量动态信息PDA实时采集技术,实现了大坝填筑碾压全过程的全天候、精细化、在线实时监控;在建立高混凝土坝施工进度实时控制数学模型基础上,提出了施工进度实时预警与动态调整方法,为高混凝土坝施工进度的实时预测、适时预警、动态调整与优化提供了分析手段;提出了网络环境下数字大坝系统集成技术,研制开发了数字大坝系统,为大坝竣工验收、安全鉴定及运行管理提供了支撑平台。成果已应用于10余项重大工程,取得了显著的经济效益和社会效益。

Research on the influence of contact surface constraint on mechanical properties of rock-concrete composite

摘要: The contact form of rock-concrete has a crucial influence on the failure characteristics of the stability of rock-concrete engineering. To study the influence of contact surface on the mechanical properties of rock-concrete composite specimens under compressive loads, the two different contact forms of rock-concrete composite specimens are designed, the mechanical properties of these two different specimens are analyzed under triaxial compressive condition, and analysis comparison on the stress-strain curves and failure forms of the two specimens is carried out. The influence of contact surface constraint on the mechanical properties of rock-concrete composite specimens is obtained. Results show that the stress and strain of rock-concrete composite specimens with contact surface constraint are obviously higher than those without. Averagely, compared with composite specimens without the contact surface, the existence of contact surface constraint can increase the axial peak stress of composite specimens by 24% and the axial peak strain by 16%. According to the characteristics of the fracture surface, the theory of microcrack development is used to explain the contact surface constraint of rock-concrete composite specimens, which explains the difference of mechanical properties between the two rock-concrete composite specimens in the experiment. Research results cannot only enrich the research content of the mechanics of rock contact, but also can serve as a valuable reference for the understanding of the corresponding mechanics mechanism of other similar composite specimens.

笔者于2009年提出了胶结颗粒料坝的概念,目的在于修建更安全、更经济的环境友好的大坝。该坝型包括胶结砂砾石坝(曾用名胶凝砂砾石坝)、堆石混凝土坝(或胶结堆石坝)和胶结土坝。本文基于研究和实践,进一步阐述了胶结颗粒料坝的概念和原则,介绍了胶结砂砾石坝、堆石混凝土坝和胶结土坝的新进展。

Effects of sheet thickness and material on the mechanical properties of flat clinched joint

摘要: The flat clinching process is attracting a growing attention in the joining field of lightweight materials because it avoids the geometric protrusion that appears in the conventional clinching process. In this paper, the effects of sheet thickness and material on the mechanical properties of the clinched joint were studied. Al1060 and Al2024 sheets with 2 mm thickness were employed to develop the clinched joint by using different material configurations, and Al1060 sheets with 2.5- and 1.5-mm thicknesses were used to produce the clinched joint by using different thickness configurations. The clinched joints using various sheet configurations were sectioned, and dimensional analysis was conducted. Cross-tensile and shearing tests were carried out to analyze the mechanical properties of the clinched joint, including tensile strength, shearing strength, and absorbed energy. In addition, the failure modes of the clinched joints were discussed. Results indicated that the clinched joint with a stiff top sheet had increased static strength regardless of the test type. The clinched joint with a thick top sheet demonstrated lower static strength than the joint with a thick bottom sheet in the cross-tensile test. However, this result was reversed in the shearing tests. The flat clinching process has a great potential in joining dissimilar and various thickness materials.

Macro-architectured cellular materials: Properties, characteristic modes, and prediction methods

Macro-architectured cellular (MAC) material is defined as a class of engineered materials having configurable cells of relatively large (i.e., visible) size that can be architecturally designed to achieve various desired material properties. Two types of novel MAC materials, negative Poisson’s ratio material and biomimetic tendon reinforced material, were introduced in this study. To estimate the effective material properties for structural analyses and to optimally design such materials, a set of suitable homogenization methods was developed that provided an effective means for the multiscale modeling of MAC materials. First, a strain-based homogenization method was developed using an approach that separated the strain field into a homogenized strain field and a strain variation field in the local cellular domain superposed on the homogenized strain field. The principle of virtual displacements for the relationship between the strain variation field and the homogenized strain field was then used to condense the strain variation field onto the homogenized strain field. The new method was then extended to a stress-based homogenization process based on the principle of virtual forces and further applied to address the discrete systems represented by the beam or frame structures of the aforementioned MAC materials. The characteristic modes and the stress recovery process used to predict the stress distribution inside the cellular domain and thus determine the material strengths and failures at the local level are also discussed.

Evaluation of potential failure of rock slope at the left abutment of Jinsha River Bridge by model test

摘要: Jinsha River Bridge is located on Tiger Leaping Gorge town, China. The left bank slope composes of moderately thick layer of slate overlain by schistose basalt, and where rocks are controlled by two sets of joint planes. To evaluate the stability of the rock slope under bridge foundation, model test and calculation model based on the geological parameters and the slope stability was simulated and analyzed using Universal Distinct Element Code (UDEC) and Finite Element Mehod (FEM). According to model test, failure mainly initiated at the toe with shear movement along the joint planes, eventually resulting in the sliding along the slope surface and formation of tension crack at the crest of the model. This result coincide with the UDEC model, which shows that slope surface will produce loosening damage and slipping expected along the joint planes under different loading conditions. Moreover, the result of FEM analysis indicates that the rock mass under the main pier has potential shear failure region. So, the bridge foundation should be strengthened to prevent the slope failure under external forces.

Application of the expanded distinct element method for the study of crack growth in rock-like materials

摘要: The expanded distinct element method (EDEM) was used to investigate the crack growth in rock-like materials under uniaxial compression. The tensile-shear failure criterion and the Griffith failure criterion were implanted into the EDEM to determine the initiation and propagation of pre-existing cracks, respectively. Uniaxial compression experiments were also performed with the artificial rock-like samples to verify the validity of the EDEM. Simulation results indicated that the EDEM model with the tensile-shear failure criterion has strong capabilities for modeling the growth of pre-existing cracks, and model results have strong agreement with the failure and mechanical properties of experimental samples. The EDEM model with the Griffith failure criterion can only simulate the splitting failure of samples due to tensile stresses and is incapable of providing a comprehensive interpretation for the overall failure of rock masses. Research results demonstrated that sample failure primarily resulted from the growth of single cracks (in the form of tensile wing cracks and shear secondary cracks) and the coalescence of two cracks due to the growth of wing cracks in the rock bridge zone. Additionally, the inclination angle of the pre-existing crack clearly influences the final failure pattern of the samples.

Thermal radiative properties of metamaterials and other nanostructured materials: A review

摘要: The ability to manufacture, control, and manipulate structures at extremely small scales is the hallmark of modern technologies, including microelectronics, MEMS/NEMS, and nano-biotechnology. Along with the advancement of microfabrication technology, more and more investigations have been performed in recent years to understand the influence of microstructures on radiative properties. The key to the enhancement of performance is through the modification of the reflection and transmission properties of electromagnetic waves and thermal emission spectra using one-, two-, or three-dimensional micro/nanostructures. This review focuses on recent developments in metamaterials–manmade materials with exotic optical properties, and other nanostructured materials, such as gratings and photonic crystals, for application in radiative energy transfer and energy conversion systems.

An investigation into the properties of ternary and binary cement pastes containing glass powder

摘要: The properties of binary and ternary cement pastes containing glass powder (GP) were examined. Hydration at early age was evaluated using semi-adiabatic calorimetry and at late ages using non-evaporable water content and thermogravimetric analysis. The transport characteristic was assessed by measuring electrical resistivity. The binary paste with slag showed the highest hydration activity compared to the binary pastes with GP and fly ash (FA). The results indicated that the pozzolanic behavior of the binary paste with GP was less than that of the binary pastes with slag or FA at late ages. An increase in the electrical resistivity and compressive strength of the binary paste with GP compared to other modified pastes at late ages was observed. It was shown that GP tends to increase the drying shrinkage of the pastes. Ternary pastes containing GP did not exhibit synergistic enhancements compared to the respective binary pastes.
